Your organisation has no doubt made some important progress in sustainability. Maybe acting on energy, waste, or employee engagement. Perhaps you’ve already made firm carbon or climate commitments? But now you’re ready for the next step. You want to (or are being asked to) go further, integrate your approach, and make sure you’re not missing something crucial from your areas of focus. 3.00pm to 3.45pm

Identify some of the key challenges business leaders face in turning their plans into practice,
Identify why such challenges arise, and;

Topic: Taster Session – The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Hot and Cold Water Systems.

The course will cover:

1.What are legionella bacteria and how do they get into your workplace water systems?

2.What are the risks to health and how can they be prevented or controlled?

3.What are the statutory requirements for your business, facility manager and maintenance team?

4.A look at penalties in the UK for failing to meet statutory requirements

5.Case studies

6.Assessing the risk

7.Managing the risk

8.Plenary session

With particularly high facility rates and thousands of confirmed cases worldwide, the Health and Safety Executive take controlling Legionnaires disease very serious indeed. According to the HSE, inadequate management, poor communication and lack of training have all been identified as contributory factors in outbreaks of Legionnaire’s disease. This is why the HSE’s Approved Code of Practice (L8) and HSG274 put a real emphasis on the importance of training for all persons with responsibility for water systems in buildings, as well as those who maintain them and manage any part of the legionella control scheme. Amphibia are a multi-award-winning British company formed originally by Southern Water Plc in 1989. They specialise in workplace water and air quality and have completed training, consultancy and operational projects across the UK and internationally. Amphibia are renowned as an innovative industry leader and their training courses consistently receive a 10 out of 10 approval rating from delegates.
