Wightlink is the largest cross-Solent ferry operator serving the Isle of Wight with 140 sailings a day on six-vehicle ferries and two fast foot passenger catamarans. In 2018 it launched England’s first large hybrid vehicle ferry, Victoria of Wight. Carbon emissions from this vessel are 20% less than similar sized ships. Over the last five years Wightlink’s Green Solent Project has focused on increasing recycling, removing single use plastics, improving biodiversity by providing habitats for marine life, installing solar panels and improving our electric vehicle charging points. Kickstarting sustainability reporting by SMEs Academic staff from the Southampton Business School (SBS), University of Southampton, are working with their students to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) kickstart sustainability reporting. Undergraduate and postgraduate students learn about sustainability reporting as part of their degree programmes and must apply their skills by helping SMEs produce their first sustainability reports. This is a free service, and a team of academics, students and SMEs that have used this service will be at this year’s Big Sustainability Expo 2023, where you can learn more about this exciting opportunity.

We fully recycle all our cross shredded paper, shredded hard drives and redundant IT equipment here in the UK!
