Wightlink

Wightlink is the largest cross-Solent ferry operator serving the Isle of Wight with 140 sailings a day on six vehicle ferries and two fast foot passenger catamarans.

In 2018 it launched England’s first large hybrid vehicle ferry, Victoria of Wight. Carbon emissions from this vessel are 20% less than similar sized ships. Over the last five years Wightlink’s Green Solent Project has focused on increasing recycling, removing single use plastics, improving biodiversity by providing habitats for marine life, installing solar panels and improving our electric vehicle charging points.

Our vision includes removing 25,000 tonnes of carbon per year by 2030, delivering on our pledge of net zero emissions within the next decade.

Make a positive contribution to your global and local environment and community by helping your employees spend time volunteering as Climate Ambassadors. The Climate Ambassador programme enables employers to engage directly with education settings, helping and inspiring them to tackle the challenges of our changing climate. Education settings need a wide variety of skills, including project and change management, communications, technical sustainability, and climate expertise, to help them develop and deliver meaningful climate action plans.  We are looking for individuals who want to put their climate interest and experience to practical use to volunteer as Climate Ambassadors, to reduce carbon emissions, tackle climate risks and inspire and inform the next generation.
